NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved ‘Karmayogi Mission‘to public officials across the country to help them meet societal challenges.
A council, headed by the prime minister and whose members are top ministers, will approve plans to build capacity for civil services under the scheme, the government said.

This is what the mission is about:
* Mission Karmayogi is a national program to lay the foundation for capacity building of public officials to remain rooted in Indian culture while learning best practices from around the world.
* Called the National Civil Services Capacity Building Program (NPCSCB), the mission seeks to transform Human Resource Management from ‘rule-based’ to ‘role-based’.
* Minister of the Union Prakash Javadekar He said this is the government’s largest human resource development program.
* The mission objective is to prepare bureaucrats for the future and carry out post-employment reforms in government.

* Mission Karmayogi aims to prepare Indian officials for the future by making them more creative, constructive, imaginative, innovative and proactive.
* The program will also help civil servants become more professional, progressive, energetic, empowering, transparent, and technological.
* This will help end subjective evaluation and ensure real-time, objective, scientific evaluation of employees.
* “The effort is also to put an end to the culture of working in silos and to overcome the multiplicity of training curricula that we have due to the institutions scattered throughout the country, with the introduction of a common platform for the uniform realization of the vision of the nation and of our shared aspiration and our shared future goals, “said Union Minister Jitendra Singh.
* In briefing the media on the cabinet decisions made today, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that with this mission, government officials and employees will have the opportunity to improve their performance.
* Personnel department and training secretary C Chandramouli said MissionKarmayogi it is formed to train future-ready civil servants with the right attitude, skills and knowledge, aligned with the vision of a “New India”.
* He said mission it will have a total outlay of Rs 510 crore over a period of five years.
