NEW DELHI: In the wake of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no question hours or private member business during the monsoon session, according to a notification issued by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat.
However, zero hour and other procedures will be carried out as scheduled. The monsoon session of Parliament is scheduled to begin on September 14 and conclude on October 1.
Those who attend the session will be required to follow the necessary coronavirus protocols, including testing for Covid-19 within 72 hours.
High government sources confirmed to ANI that the parliament session during the monsoons will take place daily without interruptions on weekends. The proceedings of both chambers will take place daily. On the first day (September 14), Lok Sabha will take place from 9 am to 1 pm while Rajya Sabha procedures will take place from 3 pm to 7 pm. After September 14, Rajya Sabha will sit in the first half from 9 am to 1 pm and the Lok Sabha processing is scheduled from 3 pm to 7 pm.
Both houses of Parliament will meet for four hours a day and the government will take all precautionary measures in view of the pandemic.
The Lok Sabha spokesperson and the Rajya Sabha president have already met with officials and gave instructions in the presence of Health Ministry officials on how Covid-19 guidelines should be followed in this monsoon session.
