The CBI is in possession of at least three statements from relatives of Sushant Singh Rajput – shortly after his death – in which they point to his mental health. Two of them said the actor had been “feeling bad” since 2013 and had sought psychiatric help that year, and another statement said he wanted to leave the movies in 2013.
The statements of two of the four Rajput sisters, Priyanka Tanwar and Nitu Singh, and of a brother-in-law, Siddharth Tanwar, were handed over to the Mumbai police two days after their death. In his statement, Siddharth also said that he felt the actor committed suicide out of “anxiety and depression,” and there was no one who he suspected or had any complaints about.
These statements are contrary to claims made by Rajput’s father, KK Singh, and the family’s lawyer, Vikas Singh, that the family did not know that the actor was depressed.
KK Singh, in his complaint to the Bihar police, had said that they did not know that the Rajput suffered from any mental illness before 2019, when Rhea Chakraborty entered his life. He had accused Chakraborty of giving his son a drug overdose.

When contacted about the statements of the two Rajput sisters and brother-in-law, Vikas Singh said: “I am not aware of this, so I cannot comment. In any case, I do not want to comment on the police investigations.
On Tuesday, The Indian Express reported that CBI investigations had found that six days before the Rajput’s death, Priyanka had recommended drugs for anxiety and got him a prescription for these drugs from a cardiologist at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi.
In her statement, Neetu, who is the wife of Haryana OP Singh’s IPS officer and lives in Panchkula, told police that Rajput had sought psychiatric help from a doctor in Andheri in 2013.
“In 2013, my brother Sushant Singh Rajput told me and other sisters that he was feeling very bad. He used to get out of this once we all convinced him. In 2013, he consulted a psychiatrist in Andheri. After that, he composed himself and his career progressed well. She had achieved great success in a very short time, “she said in her statement on June 16.
Neetu mentioned that his mother’s death in 2002 had deeply affected the Rajput, as he was very attached to her.
The next mention of Rajput’s mental condition, in Neetu’s statement, relates to October 2019, when, he said, he told his family that he was feeling “very depressed.” She said she felt depressed due to “career ups and downs.” This was the time when the actor’s sisters and OP Singh went to meet him in Mumbai and stayed with him for a few days.
A month later, Neetu said in her statement, the Rajput continued to feel depressed and sought the help of a doctor at the Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. According to her statement, on June 4 this year, Rajput again told Neetu that she was feeling very bad and that her sister, Meetu, stayed with her for a few days. Meetu went home to Mumbai’s Goregaon on June 12. Rajput was found hanging in his apartment on June 14.
“I don’t know if Sushant committed suicide for business or for some other reason,” Neetu said in her statement.
Priyanka’s statement, also recorded on June 16, mentioned the same details.
Sister wrote Sushant Singh Rajput about anxiety medication six days before death
Priyanka’s husband, Siddharth Tanwar, a practicing Supreme Court attorney, said in his statement that in November 2009, Rajput had called Priyanka and said that he was unwell and felt “strange.” He called her in Mumbai, Siddharth said, after which he called the actor in Delhi.
Siddharth told the police that the Rajput sisters came to meet him in Mumbai and booked his plane ticket to Chandigarh. But the actor refused to go at the last minute. “I used to keep changing my mind,” he said in his statement.
In 2013, Siddharth said, Rajputs visited them at their home in Delhi. At the time, his movie Shuddh Desi Romance was scheduled to be released. “He told me that he was totally satisfied to see his posters everywhere and that he no longer wanted to work on films. I made him understand that in life everyone has to work. After that, he went back to working in the cinema, ”he said in his statement.
In May of this year, according to Siddharth’s statement, Rajput told him again that he was not feeling well and that he wanted to give up movies and start teaching children and taking up farming. “I asked him to come to Delhi, but he couldn’t due to the Covid situation,” he said in his statement.
The CBI is also in possession of the statements recorded by Rajput’s father, KK Singh, and his sister, Meetu Singh. None of them have mentioned the Rajput mental condition in 2013.
KK Singh, in his statement, said that he last met his son on May 13, 2019, when the actor had been going to Patna for two days. “I wasn’t tense in any way,” she said.
He said that he would generally send a WhatsApp text message to Rajput instead of calling, as the actor would be busy. The last conversation KK Singh had with the Rajput was on June 7, when he asked the Rajput to go to Patna. “Let me see, I am not feeling well,” the actor told his father, according to the statement.
“I don’t know why my son has committed suicide. He never told me about any kind of depression or tension. I feel like Sushant may have committed suicide out of dejection, ”KK Singh said in his statement.
When contacted, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, said: “The family knew about Sushant’s condition from the beginning. They have deliberately chosen to make false statements, to the Bihar police and even to the courts. If Rhea had something to do with the incident, why didn’t they make these accusations at first? The truth is coming out now. Those who make false statements in court must be prosecuted. “
