GURUGRAM: A 39-year-old doctor allegedly committed suicide jumping off his Floor 8th floor in Evo apartments located in Sector-47 in Gurugram on Tuesday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Surjit Kumar Saha who is a native of Nepal but obtained Indian citizenship in 2005.
He was a liver transplant surgeon at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.
According to the police, Saha lived alone in his apartment in Gurugram, while his wife Laxmi and their six-year-old daughter live in Kolkata.
“We suspect that Saha had some conflict with his wife and it could be a reason behind the extreme step. We have also recovered a suicide note from her apartment in which she did not blame anyone for the extreme step,” said Mohan Puri, an official at the so much research.
According to police, Saha was stressed because the couple had filed a petition for mutual divorce in a local court and on Tuesday they had to attend their first court hearing.
Police said Saha and his wife had a phone conversation just prior to his suicide, in that conversation Saha told his wife that he would jump out of the window.
After hearing this, his wife immediately informed the Gurugram police by phone.
Police said further action will be taken once they receive any complaints from the family of the deceased.
“We are investigating the matter and we will also get more input from his family. More investigations are underway. The body has been kept in the morgue for an autopsy,” he said. In video: Gurugram: Doctor jumps from the eighth floor of the building and dies
