Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 was launched and is available for pre-order starting today. It is priced at $ 1,999 (roughly Rs 1.46 lakh), and Samsung says the smartphone will be available in 40 countries starting September 18. The second event for the phone was a bit puzzling, after Samsung showed off the device but left key details missing during August’s Galaxy Unpacked 2020. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the third Samsung smartphone with a folding screen after the first generation of the Galaxy Fold and the next with the Galaxy Z Flip. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 features a similar design to the Galaxy Fold, but Samsung claims it has a much stronger and more durable hinge, and overall, it makes for a better smartphone overall.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is a flagship smartphone, so naturally it runs on Qualcomm’s Samsung Exynos 990 or Snapdragon 865 chipsets. It now has larger screens: 6.2 inches on the outside and 7.6 inches (folding) on the inside, with the folding panel supporting fast 120Hz refresh rates. On the outside, at the rear, you also have a triple rear camera with three 12-megapixel cameras for wide-angle, ultra-wide and telephoto units. You can flip it over and turn it into a front camera too, although the 6.2-inch outer display has its own punch-hole selfie camera. It also has a second punch-hole selfie camera on the folding panel, and both punch-holes use 10-megapixel sensors.

Well that’s all of us here. India’s pricing and availability have yet to go up so you’ll be sure to let us know once you do. As of now, it seems certain that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is coming to India, but definitely don’t expect it to be cheap.
That said, if you’re planning on buying it, we’re sure you’re not particularly concerned with buying “cheap” phones.
Good morning and stay safe!
In case you want to spend more, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Thom Browne Edition (which also comes bundled with the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Buds Live) will be available for pre-order in “select countries” starting today. Only 5,000 units will be made in total, and it will cost you $ 3,299. That’s … Rs 2.4 lakh. However, I doubt it will make it to India.
Samsung has clearly treated the Galaxy Z Fold 2 as a second-generation device, doing well what its first-generation Galaxy Fold did wrong. The front display looks uncluttered and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 looks quite cohesive. Maybe because we are used to seeing such a device now than before, but the Galaxy Z Fold 2 no longer seems jarring.
For those of you who want to see the full movie (yes, launch events are now in proper production quality) live, tune in to Samsung’s launch broadcast here:
Hello and welcome to this rather specific launch event, where, for once, we don’t expect to see too many devices released! It’s the launch (again) of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, Samsung’s third folding smartphone and the second generation of its Galaxy Fold design. It’s no longer a particularly secret, as Samsung showed the phone about a month ago, but for some curious reason, it decided to hold a separate event for it.
