Eric García talks about the future, talks about Lionel Messi with the rumors of Manchester City

Eric Garcia spoke to reporters on Tuesday while on duty in Spain and, unsurprisingly, the subject of his future came up.

The Manchester City defender is wanted back in Barcelona and has already told the Citizens that he will not renew.

Garcia didn’t reveal much about what might happen next, but did suggest that he could fulfill his contract at Etiahd Stadium.

“I told City that I will not renew my contract, but I still have a season with them and I hope to return,” he said.

“My goal is to train and play as much as possible to show here [with Spain] and in Manchester that the technician can count on me.

“What comes next is something I don’t know. I can not control. I focus on what I can control. “

Unsurprisingly, the 19-year-old defender was also asked about the possibility of Lionel Messi leaving for Barcelona and gave a rather diplomatic response.

“At City we haven’t talked about Messi’s coming, but everyone would like to have Messi on their team.

“On the issue of Messi, it’s something between clubs that I can’t get into.

“I’m going to avoid the question of whether he would be a good signing for City because he is a Barça player and I’m not going to comment on it.”

Recent speculation has claimed that Barcelona have made a € 10 million offer for Garcia, but are willing to wait until next year when he is free if he is turned down. There has also been speculation that City may be willing to use Garcia as part of a deal to sign Lionel Messi.
