With this, it also allowed the resumption of metro rail services from September 7 in a ‘calibrated’ way.

The Indian Railways had announced last month that all scheduled passenger trains, which were previously suspended until August 12, will remain suspended “until further notice.”

However, the national carrier had stated that the 230 Special Trains, which are currently operating, will continue to operate.

All regular train services have been canceled since March 25, when the lockdown began in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. The IRCTC has suspended advance booking for regular train services as of April 15.

While 30 Rajdhani-type CA trains were initially launched, the IRCTC started 200 more trains from June 1.

Regarding Shramik Special train operations, the national carrier had said that a total of 4,165 Shramik Special trains were operated from May 1 to July 9 and transported more than 63 lakhs of people to their home states. in the middle of the pandemic and that all the existing demand for such trains was complete. known up to the date mentioned.

“The last Shramik Special train ran on July 9 and with that we assume that we have met the demand of the states regarding these trains. However, if there is more demand of this kind, we will operate these services again, “the Chairman of the Board of Railways, VK Yadav, said at an online press conference.
