After Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh could also withdraw from tournament: report

The upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season could prove to be an absolute disaster for Chennai Super Kings. With less than a month to go before the tournament begins, the Super Kings camp is in a complete mess.

At a time when the other franchises have started their preparations for IPL 2020, Chennai Super Kings are still in quarantine. His mandatory six-day quarantine was extended to 14 days after 13 members of his contingent, including two players, Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad, tested positive for COVID-19.

To make matters worse, Suresh Raina sensationally decided to withdraw from the competition last week, citing personal reasons. And as if all the setbacks weren’t enough, the three-time champions could suffer another setback with reports suggesting their veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh is contemplating losing the 2020 IPL.

According to Insidesport reports, Harbhajan Singh is scheduled to fly to Dubai on Tuesday, but the COVID-19 cases at the Super Kings camp have left him concerned.

“Harbhajan will join the team on Tuesday. But the situation with Chennai Super Kings currently has left him very concerned. He may change his hours or even decide to skip the IPL this year. “ said a source close to the player.

Harbhajan Singh had also skipped pre-season camp earlier this month, which ran from August 15-20. The 2020 IPL is scheduled to be played entirely in the UAE due to the alarming coronavirus situation in India. The tournament would be played in three formats: Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. IPL 2020 is scheduled to begin on September 19, while the final is on November 10.
