Bangalore: The Karnataka government said on Monday that it would relax coronavirus-related restrictions on educational institutions, the subway, sports and social gatherings, among other activities, in a staggered manner starting in the first week of September.
“The railway metro will be able to operate from September 7, 2020 in a phased manner,” according to a notification issued by TM Vijay Bhaskar, Karnataka’s chief secretary on Monday.
Pubs, bars and clubs can reopen from September 1 with 50% capacity.

The easing of restrictions in Karnataka comes at a time when the state is witnessing a steady increase in COVID-19 cases and deaths.
Karnataka has more than 3.35 lakh of Covid-19 cases of which more than 88,000 are active. More than 5,500 people have lost their lives to the virus in the state, according to official data.
