- The Chennai Super Kings have always been like family: CSK owner N Srinivasan
Chennai Super Kings owner N Srinivasan has ensured that team captain MS Dhoni is not overly concerned about losing Suresh Raina to the 2020 IPL.
CSK will have to play the thirteenth season of the IPL without vice captain Suresh Raina as he returned home for personal reasons. But MS Dhoni has assured the team’s owner, Srinivasan, that they don’t have to worry.
“I spoke to MS (Dhoni) and he assured me that even if the numbers go up, there is nothing to worry about. He spoke to the players via a zoom call and asked them to stay safe. You really don’t know who a carrier is. passive, “Srinivasan told Outlook.
“Cricketers are like prima donnas … like temperamental actors from the old days. Chennai Super Kings have always been like a family and all the older players have learned to coexist.
“My opinion is that if you’re reluctant or unhappy, come back. I don’t force anyone to do anything … sometimes success gets into your head,” Srinivasan said.
Dhoni is unfazed by anything, says Srinivasan
However, Srinivasan is completely behind his captain Dhoni, who “is unfazed by anything”.
“I have a solid captain. Dhoni just isn’t fazed by anything. That gives everyone on the team a lot of confidence,” Srinivasan said.
Srinivasan also said that Raina’s departure from the team will be an opportunity for the other players on the team to shine. Especially for players like Ruturaj Gaikwad.
“He’s an outstanding hitter and now he will have a chance. Ruturaj may become the star of the show, who knows?
“The season has not started yet and Raina will certainly realize what she is losing and certainly all the money (a salary of 11 million rupees per season) that she is going to lose,” said the CSK chief.
