The congressional leader’s comment comes after Prime Minister Modi addressed his monthly radio show “Mann ki Baat” today. On the show, the Prime Minister also spoke about making “toys for the world” and highlighted India’s ability to become a “toy hub”.
The congressional leader’s comments came even as the National Income and Eligibility Test (NEET) and the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) are scheduled to take place in September. In particular, students and opposition parties are holding protests against the decision to take the exams amid the ongoing pandemic.
Ministers from six opposition-ruled states also requested instructions from the Supreme Court to postpone the examinations by revising their previous order on the matter.
The Supreme Court had on August 17 dismissed a petition requesting the postponement of NEETs and JEEs scheduled to take place in September 2020, noting that students’ careers cannot be jeopardized for long.
