The Uttarakhand government is preparing to take the NEET-JEE exams even as the Opposition Congress has launched statewide protests on the issue.
Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat instructed all district magistrates on Saturday night to take the necessary protective measures, including imposing the necessary physical distancing and limiting the number of students at each center taking the JEE exams. -NEET in view of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Social and physical distancing must be followed and for this the number of examination centers can be increased if necessary. Along with this, all necessary JEE-NEET exam guidelines should be followed in the best interest of the students, ”Rawat said.
Meanwhile, the Opposition Congress has begun protesting across the state demanding the postponement of the entrance exams.
Pritam Singh, chairman of the state congressional unit, said: “The country’s prime minister or prime minister is working from home using different methods online, so why are they forcing students to go out and take exams during a pandemic. “

He affirmed that the safety of the entire official apparatus involved in conducting the exams, as well as that of the parents, will be compromised if the tests are not postponed.
“It is not only about the safety of the students, but also of their parents and all the personnel involved, who will be there during the exam. Simply increasing the number of test centers does not solve the problem, what about the security of all the support staff needed to take the tests? Singh asked.

Most opposition states are demanding the postponement of the twin exams, while governments governed by the NDA, including the government of Uttarakhand, have expressed their willingness to take the exams.
