Jammu / Srinagar, August 29

The Border Security Force (BSF) today claimed to have detected a tunnel near the India-Pakistan International Border (IB) in the Samba district of Jammu province. This comes on a day when a soldier from the Army’s elite counter-insurgency unit and three local Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed in a shootout in the Pulwama district of southern Kashmir.

Originally from Pakistan, the cross-border tunnel was detected in a field in the village of Galar. The tunnel opening is about 170 meters from the IB on the Indian side.

IG (Jammu border) NS Jamwal did not rule out the involvement of the Pakistani establishment in the excavation of the tunnel. “After the entrances, special teams were set up and one of them detected the tunnel on Friday,” Jamwal said, adding: “Pakistani-made sandbags were found at the mouth of the tunnel with marks from the Shakargarh and Karachi factories. “.

“The tunnel is about 20 feet deep and 2-3 feet wide,” tweeted BSF Jammu. “With this detection, the alerted BSF troops thwarted Pakistan’s nefarious plan to infiltrate terrorists into Indian territory.
