Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Zadoora area of the Pulwama district in southern Kashmir overnight after receiving specific information about the presence of militants there, a police officer said.

Three militants and a soldier were killed in a shooting in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, authorities said.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Zadoora area of the Pulwama district in southern Kashmir overnight after receiving specific information about the presence of militants there, a police officer said.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter after militants fired at a search party of the security forces. In the exchange of gunfire, three militants were killed, the official said.
The incriminating material, including weapons and ammunition, was recovered from the meeting place, it added. Srinagar-based Defense spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said a soldier was seriously injured during the shooting and later succumbed to injuries.
The operation continues, the official said.
