Two murders rocked the Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow on Saturday after a “depressed” minor allegedly shot dead her mother and brother at their residence, a senior police official said. The house where the murders occurred is located in the Gautampalli area, a high security area. The official residence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is just a few kilometers away.

“The deceased have been identified as Malini Bajpai, 45, wife of a senior railway official, and her son Sharad, 20,” said a police officer.

The killings took place when the state is under lockdown, and UP imposed weekend restrictions to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Lucknow Police Commissioner Sujeet Pandey said they had received information that the wife and son of RD Bajpai, executive director of the Board of Railways in Delhi, had been killed. “The mother and son were found to have died from gunshot wounds. The son was shot in the head. During the investigation, their daughter, who is a minor, was found to have committed the crime,” Pandey said.

He said the girl confessed to the crime and added that the weapon used was recovered.

Police said Bajpai injured herself with a razor, which was also recovered. The right was bandaged and when opening it the wounds were noticed.

“So far, it has been found that she is depressed. We will send the girl to a children’s home. Her father is on his way to Lucknow,” Pandey said, adding that the bodies were found in a bedroom.

Pandey said their servants told them that the whole family had breakfast together in the morning. After that, they went to sleep. Later, the girl woke up and drew the gun, he added.

Pandey said the girl told them she loaded five rounds into the gun.

“Of those, three were used,” she said, adding that one was shot in a glass, on which the girl had written “disqualified human” for herself. “After this, she shot her mother and brother.”

The police commissioner said that a DCP-rank police officer was present when the girl was questioned. “Her grandfather was present at all times,” she said.

Pandey said there was no forced entry into the house as all the doors were locked.

Attacking the BJP government for the deteriorating public order situation in the UP, Congress Leader Akhilesh Pratap Singh said: “The incident took place in the VIP area, which is considered the safest area in Lucknow. Even with CM’s home nearby and all roads equipped with CCTV, these types of incidents are happening. The crime graph has skyrocketed in the state since this government came to power. “

“The area where the prime minister lives is considered a VVIP zone and even when there is a strict blockade, criminals have the courage to shoot the wife and son of a senior railway official,” Samajwadi Party MLC Sunil Singh said. Sajan. “This says it all about the current state of law and order in the state. The people of the state live in fear and the criminals are at large.”
