Players’ comments captured on the stump microphone have always entertained fans and Pakistan goalkeeper Mohammad Rizwan has given cricket fans another gem of commentary behind the stumps. He was heard uttering a hilarious line during the first T20I against England on Friday.
Just like goalkeepers do, Mohammad Rizwan was also guiding spinners, Shadab Khan and Imad Wasim, on how to pitch English batsmen in Urdu. He chirped constantly as he tried to unsettle the opposition batter. However, when Moeen Ali stepped in at bat, the Pakistan star stopped twittering for an amusing reason.
As soon as Moeen took the stand against Shadab, Mohammad Rizwan brazenly said: “Isko yeh khud hi karna, ise Urdu samajh aati hai. (Roughly translates to: he knows Urdu, so you are on your own) In particular, Moeen is of Pakistani descent and it was two generations ago that his grandfather emigrated to England.
Shadad, however, did not need Mohammad Rizwan’s guidance when he dismissed Moeen at the next ball. Moeen scored a ball behind the stumps where Mohammad Rizwan picked up a good catch.
Here’s a clip of that hilarious moment:

Mohammad Rizwan is having a great time in England. The 28-year-old was in good bat and glove shape in the recently concluded test series. His performance also earned him the Player of the Series award, as he scored 161 runs with the help of 2 fifties and affected 6 firings from behind stumps.
As far as the game is concerned, it ended without any result due to the rain. Young Englishman Tom Banton impressed with the bat, scoring 71 of 42 before the rain swept through the game.
The 21-year-old became the youngest England player to score a T20 half century when he hit four fours and five sixes. His start was the first of four wickets to fall for 14 races, shortly before rain intervened with England 131-6 after 16.1 overs.
