With HIS viewing its Chinese counterpart via a video link, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said on Tuesday that “the world’s leading voices should be exemplary in every way” and that “today’s challenge is only one of concepts and norms Is not, but equally is their practice ”.

Jaishankar was speaking at a virtual meeting of Russia-India-China (RIC) foreign ministers, chaired by Russia’s Sergei Lavrov, who said the three countries were “united by our rejection of unilateral ways in international relations, especially when These methods are applied by force “.

This was Jaishankar’s face-to-face conversation with China’s foreign minister Wang Yi after the Galvan Valley incident. 20 Indian Army soldiers killed On June 15, in violent clashes with Chinese soldiers.

“This special meeting reiterates our belief in the time-tested principles of international relations. But today the challenge is not just one of concepts and norms, but is similar to their behavior. The world’s major voices should be exemplary in every way. Jaishankar said respecting international law, recognizing the legitimate interests of partners, supporting multilateralism and doing a good job.

The statements are being seen as a small veil reference to China, which India maintained has violated all bilateral agreements since 1993 with violent clashes last week.

According to a Chinese official statement, Wang said they should “properly handle sensitive factors in bilateral relations and maintain the overall state of mutual relations”. He also stressed that China, Russia and India are big countries that emphasize strategic autonomy.

The statement quoted Wang as saying, “Starting with the common interests of promoting the development of three countries and securing the peaceful development of the world, we must treat them properly and properly understand the sensitive factors in bilateral relations . ” .

Russia’s Foreign Minister Lavrov played tensions in the recent spike, saying that it is normal to have problems with neighbors. “I don’t think they need any outside help after the meeting,” he said.

Lavrov said that India and China “showed their commitment to a peaceful resolution after the incident”. He said, ‘They started meetings at the level of defense officials, foreign ministries and neither of the two sides made a statement that either of them would proceed to a non-diplomatic solution. I think there is no reason why Russia or anyone else is offering their services to India and China to solve their problems, ”he said.

Welcoming the meeting to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the conclusion of WW-II, and the foundation of the United Nations, Jaishankar recalled that Nazism and fascism had been conquered by many countries through sacrifices in many theaters.

“India made significant contributions, with 2.3 million civilians under arms and 14 million participating in more war production. Indian blood was flown into the battlefields of the world from Tobruk, Al Alamein and Montesino to Singapore, Kohima and Borneo.

“We helped keep important supply lines open to both our countries, one through the Persian corridor and the other over the Himalayan hump. If Indian personnel were awarded the Order of the Red Star, Drs. The medical mission led by Kotnis was a legend in China, ”he said.

“When the winners met fashion for the global order, the political circumstances of that era did not give proper recognition to India. This historical injustice is unchanged for the last 75 years, even though the world has changed. Therefore, on this momentous occasion, it is important for the world to realize both the contribution that India has made and the need to fix the past.

“But beyond history, international affairs must also come with contemporary reality. The United Nations started with 50 members; Today it has 193. Certainly, this decision cannot be ruled out. We, the RIC countries, have been active participants in shaping the global agenda. It is India’s hope that we will now also work on the value of reformed multilateralism.

Wang urged the three parties to “hold high” the banner of multilateralism, which upholds the objectives and principles of the United Nations Charter, and ensures the authority and effectiveness of the United Nations.

“They should strengthen communication and coordination within the framework of the United Nations, make practical and effective cooperation, and promote the United Nations to protect world peace and promote general development, especially solutions to global challenges Doing, ”the Chinese Foreign Minister said.

Wang asked the three countries to “vigorously defend” the fruits of the WW-II victory. He said, “They should strongly oppose any act of reversing the wheel of history, oppose the politics of persuasion and power, and fully promote the democratization and legalization of international relations”.

Lavrov flagged “international terrorism” as a “threat” and said efforts to counter it continue with a degree of success, although it is clear that this threat is far from being eliminated. “I would like to use this opportunity to reaffirm our support for the Indian initiative on adopting a comprehensive conference on counter-terrorism. Other cross-border threats that make terrorism stronger, such as drug trafficking and other forms of cross-border crime, are also unresolved, ”he said.
