Kathmandu: According to the report of the Government of Nepal, in yet another daring effort of territorial expansion, China is using road construction in Tibet to occupy Nepalese land and establish outposts on the border. The report comes days after the Chinese military had a violent clash with the Indian Army on the Ladakh border.

According to the list of 11 places prepared by the Survey Department of Nepal’s Ministry of Agriculture, China has encroached on 10 places covering about 33 hectares of Nepalese land. The report further states that China is diverting the flow of rivers to expand its territory.

A total of 10 hectares of land has been encroached upon in the attack district as the Chinese construction works Bagdre Khola River and Karnali River have been diverted. Six hectares of Nepali land has been encroached upon in Rasuwa district as construction works in Tibet have brought variations in Sinjane, Bhurjuk and Jambu Khola.

China is expanding its road network extensively in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), causing some rivers to divert their course and flow towards Nepal. The report said that the rivers are gradually settling in Nepalese areas and if this continues, the rivers will increase the maximum part of Nepal’s land towards TAR.

“If reclamation of land by rivers continues, hundreds of hectares naturally migrate to the TAR. There is a high likelihood that over time, China will develop its Armed Police’s Border Observation Post (BOP) in those areas Can do.” The document states.

It should be noted that the Nepal government report comes on the heels of the recent violent clash between Indian and Chinese forces in the Galawan Valley on the Ladakh border, which killed at least 20 Indian soldiers.

However, this is not the only stand-off that China has as it is involved in a dispute with Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan. China also recently threatened Australia with boycott of alcohol, beef, barley and Chinese students.
