In a sign that India may be ready to start international flights soon, the Ministry of Health on Sunday published guidelines for international travelers which include a “mandatory quarantine for 14 days” to arrive. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, had said last week that the aim was to start international flights before August.

Guidelines were also issued for domestic flights — by bus, train or plane.

While Puri had on Saturday, said domestic air passengers on domestic flights are set to resume operations on Monday – you do not have to undergo quarantine as long as they have the Aarogya respective eras, the implementation of the guidelines for international travel to say, “Before boarding, all travellers will give an undertaking that they would submit to mandatory quarantine for 14 days — 7 days paid institutional quarantine at its own cost, followed by 7 days of isolation at home with the self-monitoring of health. Only for exceptional and compelling reasons, such as the cases of human anxiety, pregnancy, death of a family member, serious illness and the parent(s) accompanied by children under the age of 10 years, according to the evaluation of host countries, home quarantine may be allowed for 14 days. Use of Aarogya respective eras application will be mandatory in these cases.”

In spite of the quarantine regulations have been spelled out, the guidelines go on to say the states can up with your own protocol for the quarantine and isolation “as in its evaluation.”

The previous, pre-lockout guidelines for those flying from abroad mentioned institutional quarantine for 14 days, not in home quarantine.

The guidelines do not mention mandatory quarantine unlike international travelers – say that the states may develop their own protocol on quarantine and isolation as for their evaluation.
