Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath in a seminar, said that at least 25 lakh migrant workers have returned to the form of other states, adding that 75 percent of those who returned from Mumbai and 50 per cent of the workers that come back from Delhi were infected with COVID-19.

He also said that the 25-30 per cent of the migrant workers who had returned from other states were infected with the disease.

The CM held a Facebook live enlistment of the measures taken by the state government to control the infection. He said that the geography ABOVE is such that return migrants to a number of other states had to pass through it.

He also went on to explain how the state addressed cluster of infections caused by the Tablighi Jamaat event held at the Nizamuddin Markaz, and the cluster of infections in Agra and Noida.

Meanwhile, the Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi took to Twitter to condemn the Chief Minister’s statement that the people returning to the state from other states that are increasing the number of cases of coronavirus and asked him to share the evidence and the infection data with total transparency.

“Heard UP to the Head of the Minister’s statement. According to him, 75 per cent of the returnees in Maharashtra, 50 per cent in Delhi and 25 per cent from other states have tested Covid-19 positive. Questioning the Chief Minister, Priyanka asked him if he meant that there were more than 10 lakh people affected by Covid-19 in the state. The state government statistics indicate that the total number of Covid-19 of affected people is 6,228. “What is the basis of the statistics of infection reported for him? Where did this percentage of return of the migrants come from,” she remarked.

If there is something of truth in the Chief Minister’s statement, then, the state government should share the evidence and the infection data with the public, he said, and added that it also tells us about the preparation for the control of the infection.

Migrant workers have returned from the Shramik special trains from the 1 of May. Has received the maximum number of Shramik special trains, transporting the homeless to the workers, students, tourists and pilgrims.

Thousands of people have returned to the state, either on foot or through other means of transportation, such as trucks, buses, bikes and auto-rickshaws.

According to the Union, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, UP has recorded 6,268 Covid-19 cases. Of this, 161 people have been killed and 3,538 recovered.
