Himachal extends the curfew until the 30th of June : The Tribune of India

With Himachal Pradesh are witnessing a strong rebound in Covid cases to 225 in the last few days, the state government has decided to extend the curfew by a month to June 30.

The number of cases increased mainly on the account of the state’s residents who returned from other states, especially Maharashtra, and tested positive for the virus here.

Although the curfew would be extended, of public and private transportation, including taxis and cars, are to resume operations from the 1st of June. Officials said all of the Commissioners had already issued orders for the extension of the curfew for another month.

The increased 63 Covid cases are in Hamirpur district, followed by 57 in Kangra, 30 in One and 18 in the Chamba. The state has seen five deaths.

With a large number of people returning to the state of Maharashtra, Chennai, Gujarat and West Bengal, the number of Covid cases have increased from 30 a few days ago to 225 today. A higher peak is expected towards the end of this month, as two trains carrying almost 1,500 people of Maharashtra and Gujarat reached the state yesterday.

The possibility that the curfew be extended by another month it was high as the Cabinet, in its meeting on 23 May, had authorised all district magistrates, in accordance with the provisions of subsection (4) of Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, to extend the order issued pursuant to article 144, paragraph 1, of the Code until the 30 of June.
