Coronavirus outbreak: 7,000 beds to be added in Mumbai hospitals over the next 14 days to treat COVID-19 patients

Mumbai: Several COVID-19 treatment at hospitals and centers with a combined capacity of 7,000 beds will come in Mumbai in the next two weeks, said an official of the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s office on Monday.

These hospitals and centers, with a combined capacity of 7,000 beds, will arrive at Mahalaxmi Racecourse, Goregaon, Dahisar and Mulund in the suburbs, he said.

On the 31st of May, the city of the bed capacity will be increased by 2,475, including a facility in Bandra (East) which has commenced operations, he said.

The state government has begun to take over non – public hospitals with fewer than 100 beds and 20 ICU beds in all the wards of the BMC to adapt them to COVID-19-care centres.

The number of the ambulance is also be greater than 100, now to 450, he said.
