Warangal:
24-year-old man was arrested Monday in the murder of nine people in Telangana’s Warangal district last week. The bodies of six of a family and three other people – two in Bihar and one in Tripura – were found in a well in a village approximately 150 km from the state capital of Hyderabad. The defendant killed to conceal the murder of a woman who disappeared in March, police said.
Sanjay Kumar Yadav, the accused killed all nine of them after spiking their food with sleeping pills and then throwing them in a pit.
The murders in Geesugonda Mandal village were carried out to cover the murder of a woman, related to the family, on the part of the defendants, Warangal Commissioner of Police V Ravinder said to the journalists.
“To cover up a murder, he killed nine people,” the official said, adding that the police would ensure maximum punishment to the accused.
Sanjay had allegedly killed the woman on the 6th of March.
Six of a family – Maqsood, his wife, their two children, daughter Bushra and her 3-year-old son – were found dead last week. along with three other people. Officials said that seven of the dead were working in a jute bag sewing unit.
Maqsood was 48 years of age, a man who immigrated from West Bengal more than 20 years ago and had been established in Warangal Rural. His family had been staying in two rooms at the facilities of the unit, police sources said.
Maqsood women according to reports, had threatened Sanjay Yadav, who is from Bihar, on the complaint of the disappearance of a woman to the police. Thus was hatched the conspiracy, said officials concerned.
When the bodies were found initially, with the possibility of a mass suicide has not been ruled out as no major injury marks have been found. Later, scratch marks on the bodies led the six special teams for the alleged killer who is said to have confessed to the killings.
