TV producers, filmmakers meet Maharashtra CM, Uddhav Thackeray, to discuss the future of tv

Broadcasters and television producers have recently had a virtual meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister Udhav Thackeray to draw paths for the industry to resume work on a limited scale. Producer JD Majethia revealed that the CM does not want the work to move out of Maharashtra, but wants the industry to put protocols and taking all necessary precautions.

All the shootings and the work of production has stagnated since a lockdown was announced across India to stop the spread of Covid-19 pandemic. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, JD Majethia said, “He has asked us a work plan of studies in areas such as FilmCity, and several others, beyond Dahisar. He doesn’t want to shoot out of Maharashtra, and the committee has initiated the identification of soils in the studies.”

He also told the tabloid, “We requested an immediate permit to construct monsoon tones and the look in the fire safety and hygiene. TELEVISION industry will return to work before the movies, given that they are sets of walk and the outbreaks can take place in a controlled environment. It is too soon to say when shooting will start because new developments are happening every day. But a dialog has begun, which gives us the hope that things are going to start soon.”

Majethia also told Hindustan Times, “Our CM has said that the outbreaks may occur in green zones and in the places where the studies are far from civilization. He has asked his principal secretary to take charge, to make a report, and start the work to allow monsoon maintenance of sets and the post-production work. People have started to shoot all over the world. We are all aware that this virus is going to co-exist and we will have to work our way out through it. For example, an elaborate wedding scene can be changed to a marriage tribunal or of the couple that got married with only immediate family involved.”

Some of the measures that the CM wants to be taken to ensure the safety of all involved are as follows: While the work will not be allowed in the red areas and densely populated areas, proper care to regulate the sanitation of the sets and the availability of a doctor and an ambulance on stand-by shall be taken. The technical team will also be provided with sanitisers, change of hand washing and masks.

While the work of post-production may resume at some point, the shooting is not expected to resume anytime soon. Emphasizing the risks involved, the actor Dilip Joshi of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah told Hindustan Times, “it’s going to be difficult and I don’t think that this is the right time to start shooting. We must wait another month before taking a call. Despite the fact that the idea of having a limited crew, we would not be aware of if people are following the right hygiene. Even if we are going to shoot with a limited cast, it will be a challenge for the writers to conceive of a scene.”
