CHENNAI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which manages the affairs of the Sri Venkateswara temple, has decided to put 23 properties located in different parts of Tamil Nadu for the public auction.

Confirming the development, the Official status of the V Devendra Reddy said, “The Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple located in Tirumala Hill shrine has initiated the process of auction of 23 properties located in different parts of Tamil Nadu.” The property was gifted to TTD for the devotees of Lord Balaji.

The Lord Balaji Temple trust that has formed two committees to sell what it calls “unworkable and you can’t keep it in” properties in the state of Tamil Nadu, through public auction. TTD has land and other assets not only in Andhra Pradesh but also in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Pondicherry, Haryana and Odisha.

The net worth of TTD properties is estimated at more than thousands of millions.

“The properties that are proposed to go to the auction are agriculture land, houses, house sites and vacant land gifted by the devotees, while each property has its own story behind of the devotees of feeling, but these properties are real property for TTD administration, says that the confidence of the president.

TTD chairman has also issued an official note saying, “TTD has decided to auction 50 properties in AP and Tamil Nadu, which are unfeasible, it is not useful and prone to invasion, as well as by Rule 165 Chapter XXII issued in the government order (GO) Ms No. 311, Revenue (Endowments 1) Department, dated 09-04-1990. The TTD Board is competent to sell, exchange, and mortgage real property, if found to be beneficial to TTD.”

TTD President of the Board of YV Subbareddy has appealed to the devotees of Lord Balaji not to trust the false news and rumors that come up on the social networks as a property of the lord it is sold illegally,

Meanwhile, the BJP State president Kanna Laxminarayana has warned against the sale of TTD assets.’ The BJP leader demanded Saturday that the TTD to abandon the idea of the auction of TTD assets as it would seriously hurt the religious feelings of millions of devotees.

The questioning of the property behind the TTD move, said that the responsibility to protect the temple properities rested on the shoulders of the state government.

The TTD will have to face a public scandal if it went ahead with the move to sell the temple assets, he said.

“The government is playing with the sentiments of the Hindu devotees and trying to undermine the Hindu religion. We’re not going to keep silent if the TTD assets are auctioned off,” Kanna, he warned.

The hill sanctuary attracts 50,000 to a lakh of pilgrims every day. The number in special occasions like the annual Brahmotsavam festivals and climbs of 4 to 5 lakh.

The devotees make offerings in the form of cash, gold and silver jewelry, property titles, and even demat shares.
