For the second consecutive day, Kerala reported that more than 50 new cases of novel Coronavirus on Sunday, as many people from other states continued to test positive. Some of those who returned from abroad recently, in the the last round of evacuations made by the government of India, have also been positive tests.
Kerala now has 847 confirmed cases of infection, 322 of which are active cases, all of these having been discovered after the May 10, when a new wave began in the state after the arrival of people from overseas and also other states. Just before that, the number of active cases in the state had gone under 20, and there were occasions in which the state has not reported even a single case in a day. In other days, had been reported mainly in a single digit.

In the last week, however, Kerala has had almost 250 new infections, most of them concentrated in the northern and central districts of Kannur, Palakkad and Mallapuram. Of the 53 that were positive on Sunday, 30 came from other states, mainly of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. The state had recorded only three deaths from Coronavirus of patients until the 21st of May, the lowest rate of case-fatality proportion in the country for a state with a significant number of cases, but after that, three more deaths have been reported.

The people on the move, following the relaxation of restrictions on the movement of the 4th May have been the reason for a spurt in the number of cases in several states, including those who, as Bihar and Odisha, which provide a large proportion of the migrant workforce in the country. Bihar, in the last two weeks, it has become one of the faster growth in the united states in the country, its confirmed infections have skipped less than 700 of May 10 more than 2,500 now. A majority of the new cases are people who have travelled from other places.

Odisha reported more than 100 cases on Sunday, again in their majority among the migrants or their direct contacts. About 1,450 people in the state have tested positive up to now.
Almost 7,000 people across the country tested positive for the Coronavirus on Sunday, taking the total number of confirmed cases of infection to more than 1.36 lakh. In line with the trend, Maharashtra contributed more than 3,000 of these. During the last two weeks, Maharashtra has been which represents more than 40 per cent of all cases in the country. This number has been steadily increasing over the past two months. Just before the first phase of the blockade was imposed on May 24, Maharashtra accounted for one-fifth of the national total, the number of cases. Now, it represents more than a third.
