NEW DELHI: decisions taken by the Union Cabinet on Wednesday were focused on the well-being of migrant workersolder citizens, the easy availability of credit and take advantage of the opportunities in the fisheries sector, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi what has been said.
“Today, during the Cabinet meeting, important decisions were taken that are focused on the well-being of migrants, citizens of the third age, easy availability of credit, the exploitation of opportunities in the fisheries sector”, he wrote on Twitter. Decisions, he said, will benefit several citizens.

Referring to the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, Modi he said that is going to revolutionize the fishing industry.
“We will strengthen with the latest technology, infrastructure and ensure the financial assistance. Our hardy fishermen to gain immensely,” the prime minister noted.
He said that another important decision the Cabinet will contribute to a vibrant food processing sector.
“It will also strengthen the efforts towards Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-sufficient India),” he said.
In accordance with the Food Processing Ministry, the Union Cabinet of the decision on the scheme for the formalisation of micro enterprises of food processing will provide a huge boost to the self-help groups, cooperatives and micro-enterprises of food and ensure an adequate livelihood for rural-urban communities.
The Union Cabinet on Wednesday also extended the Pradhan Mantri Go Vandana Yojana (PMVVY), a regime of social security for citizens of the third age, during three years, until March of 2023.
The PMVVY plan, implemented through the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), the aim is to give a secure minimum pension for senior citizens (60 years and more) based on an assured return on the purchase price/subscription.
