There will be a resumption of more trains soon, announced the minister of railways, Piyush Goyal, insisting that it is time to bring the country to normality after weeks of blocking due to coronavirus.

“It’s going to announce the resumption of more trains. It is time to take India to normality,” Piyush Goyal, was quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India.

In a related development, said that reservations can soon be made in the ticket counters of the railway stations.

“The bookings also for that is summed up in the ticket counters of stations in the next two or three days. We are conducting studies, development of protocol,” said the minister.

The railway, the minister praised Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister of Yogi Adityanath and the chief minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani for their co-operation with the railways in the execution of the Shramik Special trains and criticized in the West Bengal and Jharkhand for their lack of cooperation.

Until Wednesday, the minister added, 279 Shramik trains run to take five lakh migrant workers, students and tourists stranded at their homes.

Goyal said that only 27 trains have been able to reach West Bengal, while until May 8 or 9, only 2 trains could get there.

On Tuesday, the railway company announced that it would run 200 new trains from June 1. These trains will be in addition to the Shramik Special trains, whose number would also be greater.

This is the second series of special passenger services that have marked the Railways gradual restoration of its trains that were suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
