As the central and the state boards of preparing for and taking exams postponed due to the coronavirus of the pandemic, the Ministry of home Affairs (MHA) has issued strict guidelines to ensure the health and safety of students, teachers and other stakeholders during the process.
The MHA, in an official order, has asked all boards to stagger their exam schedules and to establish special provisions. This will also be applicable to the central boards of CBSE and CISCE. While CBSE has announced to conduct the waiting for tests from 1 July hereinafter, several state boards are also in the process of the release of their exam dates.
Among the main safety warnings, the MHA has asked councils to make sure that no examination centre falls in the buffer zone of any state. In addition, the states and UTs have been asked to make arrangements for special buses for transportation of students to and from their homes and the centers of examination.
Use of masks is mandatory for the teachers, the staff and the students during the exam. The tables have also been asked to do an arrangement of the thermal detection and sanitisers in the centers. The MHA also asked to keep social distancing in all exam centres.
Before, when the The minister of Health had raised concerns about the CBSE board exams, the Human Resource and Development (HRD) Minister had said, “We have issued guidelines for the CBSE in this direction. The guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health will be followed at all cost.”
The HRD Minister had yesterday also announced to carry out the CBSE board examinations in the schools where students have enrolled for the study, to ensure a minimum of travel. Generally, a school is assigned to students as an examination centre. Reported that the evaluation process has already begun for the examination board and will continue to be held simultaneously with pending exams. He announced to declare the result by July-end.
“Requests have been received from the state governments and the CBSE for the completion of the examination board and the matter has been examined in the Ministry of home Affairs (MHA). Taking into consideration the academic interests of a large number of students, it has been decided to grant exceptions to the blocking of measures to carry out board examinations of class 10 and 12,” the official statement by MHA read.
