Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli has said that the new coronavirus originating from India is “more lethal” than those of China and Italy, and blamed the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the Himalayas of the nation in which they come illegally in the country of India, as the total number of COVID-19 cases jumped to 427 on Wednesday.

Speaking of the COVID-19 of the pandemic in Parliament on Tuesday, Oli said that it has become very difficult for Nepal to contain the spread of the deadly virus due to the flow of people from outside.

“Many of the coronavirus-infected patients and who have entered in Nepal. The virus came from outside, as we do not have here before. We could not stop infiltration of people from outside of the border,” he said.

Oli said that the biggest challenge facing the country today is the increase in the number of cases of coronavirus and blamed the increase in the number of cases of coronavirus in the individuals breaking the national security lockout, especially those to sneak into Nepal from India.

“The coronavirus from India are more lethal than those of China and Italy,” he said. “Those who come from India through illegal channels are the spread of the virus in the country and some of the local representatives and the leaders of the party are responsible for bringing people of India without adequate testing,” Oli, was quoted as saying by the Kathmandu Post.

Oli’s remarks came in the midst of Nepal’s border row with India after the construction of a key road that connects the Lipulekh pass to Dharchula in Uttarakhand.

He said that the government of Nepal has been following preventive measures from an early hour in order to stop the spread of the virus. “Is the main priority of the government to make the country free of coronavirus,” he said.

There were reports of hundreds of people that enter the country daily through different border points despite the deployment of security personnel at all major entry points along the Nepal-India border to check cross-border movement of people during the running of the bulls.

Earlier this month, the Prime Minister Oli had given instructions to the authorities to intensify the vigil along the border with India due to a sudden increase in the number of coronavirus patients and directed the officials to properly manage the lock. At the national level the blockade imposed to contain the spread of the coronavirus has been extended until 2 June.

The coronavirus cases in Nepal on Wednesday rose to 427, after 25 new cases of the infection were confirmed, the Ministry of Health, said. Two people, a man and a woman, have died due to COVID-19 in the country so far.

The prime Minister Oli Tuesday said that Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura belong to Nepal and pledged to “recover” from India through political and diplomatic efforts, as its council of ministers approved a new political map that shows the three areas of Nepal territory.

Addressing the Parliament, Oli, told the territories that belong to Nepal “but India has made it a disputed area to keep their Army there.” “The nepalese were blocked from going there after India stationed its Army,” he said.

The Lipulekh pass a far western end of the point near Kalapani, a disputed area of the border between Nepal and India. In both India and Nepal claims Kalapani as an integral part of its territory – the Indian as a part of Uttarakhand in the Pithoragarh district and Nepal as part of Dharchula district.

India has said that the newly opened stretch of road in Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand is located entirely within its territory. Indian army chief Gen MM Naravane, said last week that there was reason to believe that Nepal is opposed to the India of the newly-inaugurated road that connects Lipulekh Pass to Dharchula in Uttarakhand, at the behest of “someone else”, in an apparent reference to a possible role of China in the matter.

He said that there was no difference at all between India and Nepal in the area and the road was well within the Indian side.
