I'm not going to Accept Nepal's Artificial Enlargement Of the Territorial Claims: India

KP Sharma Oli said that the constitution will be amended to formally adopt the newly issued map

New Delhi:

India today said Nepal’s claim to Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani was “artificial enlargement of the territorial claims” and will not be accepted. Nepal has even published a new map, including the areas and its Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had made belligerent comments about a virus in India which is more lethal than that of China.

Asked about the matter today, the ministry of foreign affairs said that the government of Nepal the “unilateral act is not based on historical facts and evidence”.

The movement, a spokesperson for the ministry of Anurag Srivastava, he said, was also contrary to the bilateral understanding to solve the boundary issues through dialogue.

“Nepal is very much aware of India’s consistent position in this matter, and we urge the Government of Nepal to refrain from such unwarranted mapping of the affirmation and the respect of India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. We hope that the Nepalese leadership to create a positive atmosphere for the diplomatic dialogue to resolve the problems of limits,” he added.

Nepal claims the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand on the basis of a treaty made with the British in 1816. The Treaty of Sugauli was intended to define its western border with India. The two countries share a 1,800 km of open border.

Limpiyadhura and Kalapani are highly strategic areas, India has been watching since the 1962 war with China.

Nepal has protested after a new road connection from the Lipulekh pass to Kailash Mansarovar route in China, was opened on 8 May. Kathmandu has said it is considering the placement of a security post in the area.

The ministry of foreign affairs said that the road is located entirely within the territory of India” and follows the route used by the pilgrims. “Under the present project, the same way it has been flexible for the ease and comfort of the pilgrims, locals, and traders,” the ministry of foreign affairs has said.

Today Prime Minister of Nepal Oli blamed India for the propagation of the coronavirus in your country.

“It has become very difficult to contain COVID-19 due to the flow of people from outside. India virus looks more lethal than the Chinese and the Italian now,” he said.

“Those who come from India through illegal channels are the spread of the virus in the country and some of the local representatives and the leaders of the party are responsible for bringing people of India without adequate testing,” Mr Oli told parliament.
