Maharashtra: Worker dies of starvation, dehydration while walking home

A 40-year-old farm labourer died of hunger and dehydration while on his way to his place of origin in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district of Pune, police said on Wednesday.

Pintu Pawar, was found dead Monday in Dhanora village in Beed district, located about 200 km from their place of origin, Ambhora police station, assistant inspector of Dnyneshwar Kuklare told PTI.

“The post-mortem was done later and found that he died of an excess of walking, the hunger and dehydration around May 15,” the official said.

The victim was a native of Dhopte Pondul village in Manwat tehsil of Parbhani. He used to work as a cutter of sugar cane, but after that the blockade of entry into force, it was to the stay of your brother in Pune, he said.

After the autopsy, her last rites were performed by officials of Dhanora gram panchayat and the police after consultation with the members of his family, he said.
