In a repeat of the incident, a crowd of more than 2,000 migrant workers gathered near Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus on Tuesday morning. The workers were trying to board a Shramik special train destined to Bihar.

The incident occurred around 11.30 am as a message about a Shramik train to Bihar to spread among migrant workers. The workers began to walk towards the terminal together with your baggage in an attempt to board the train.

However, only 1,700 people were allowed to board the train. The rest were not allowed in the interior of the terminal.

“My registration and the process is complete. I had also received a call from the police informing me about the train times and that would allow me to travel today. When I got to the station, there were many workers and everyone wanted to board. Despite trying to make the authorities understand, I was not allowed to board the train,” said Sanjeev Kumar, a migrant worker from Bihar

Around 2 pm, the waiting outside the station were asked to leave by the Mumbai police.

“A Shramik special train was scheduled for Purnia Bandra Terminal for passengers, registered with the state authorities, were to travel. But many people who were not registered and not called by the authorities of the state gathered on the bridge and in the road near the station.

“The bonafide passengers were checked and allowed to enter the station by the machinery of the state and the train left Bandra Terminus at 12 pm with a total of 1,700 workers and their families who had the right to travel. Later, the crowd was cleared from the area by the City Police,” said Ravinder Bhakar, chief public relation officer, western railway.
