Students will appear for pending class 10 and 12 exams in schools where they are enrolled rather than an external testing center, according to the Ministry of Human Resources.
The ministry also plans to declare the results of the board’s exams by the end of July, and the evaluation process has already started for the exams that were conducted before the closure was announced.
According to officials from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), students will appear at their individual schools for exams and not at external test centers.
“Students will appear for exams in their own schools and not in external exam centers to guarantee a minimum trip. Schools will be responsible for ensuring that social distancing standards are met and students should carry their own disinfectant bottles and cover their faces with a mask, ”said a board official.
The information was also shared by Human Resources Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank” in a live interaction with students broadcast by DD News on Tuesday night.
Board exams are generally held at designated test centers for students. This is to ensure minimal bias from schools for their students and to allow independent external supervisors to monitor the examination process.
The board announced Monday the date sheet for the pending class 10 and 12 exams, which will now be held July 1-15 with strict distance rules.
The exams were postponed due to the national blockade imposed on March 25 to contain the spread of COVID-19.
While Class 12 exams will be held across the country, Class 10 exams are only pending in Northeast Delhi, where they could not be conducted due to the law and order situation following protests against the amended citizenship law.
The human resources minister said efforts are being made to ensure that the result is declared in late July.
“Efforts are being made to declare the result in late July itself. The evaluation process has already begun for the board exams and will continue to take place simultaneously with the pending exams. Teachers who are involved in the evaluation process will be exempt from submitting academic and administrative work for the position, ”he said in the interaction.
Assessment of the CBSE class 10 and class 12 board exam is conducted from home. In addition, the DRH Ministry had assigned 3,000 evaluation centers from which answer sheets would be distributed to teachers in their homes for evaluation and then collected.
Universities and schools across the country have been closed since March 16 when the Center announced the closure of a classroom across the country as one of the measures to contain the COVID-19 outbreak.
Later, a 21-day national blockade was announced on March 24, which went into effect the next day. It has now been extended until May 31.
The board was unable to conduct class 10 and 12 tests on eight days of testing due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Furthermore, due to the law and order situation in Northeast Delhi, the board was unable to take exams on four exam days, while a very small number of students from and around this district were unable to sit for exams. in six days.
The board had announced last month that it will only conduct pending exams in 29 subjects that are crucial for promotion and admission to higher education institutions.
The board will soon announce the evaluation modalities for the subjects for which exams are not taken.
The schedule was decided to ensure that board exams are completed before competitive exams, such as the JEE-Mains Engineering Entry, which is scheduled for July 18-23, and the NEET Medical Entrance Exam, which is scheduled July 26.
