Shah said today that all soup kitchens of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) such as CRPF and BSF will sell only indigenous products on June 1 to 50 lakh relatives of approximately 10 lakh personnel.

Shah posted a series of tweets announcing this decision made by his ministry, a day after Prime Minister Modi’s call to speak to local products.

Shah said Prime Minister Modi’s appeal to become self-sufficient will certainly put India on the path to becoming a world leader. “In this direction, the Ministry of the Interior has decided today that all the canteens of CAPF will sell only indigenous products. This will apply to all CAPF canteens in the country as of June 1, 2020. 50 lakh family members of around 10 lakh CAPF staff will use swadeshi products, ”Shah wrote on Twitter.

According to PTI, the CAPFs – CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NSG and Assam Rifles – the soup kitchens together sell products worth around Rs 2,800 crore annually.

The Home Secretary also referred to Prime Minister Modi’s call for the country to be self-sufficient and use products made in India, saying: “If every Indian agrees to use products made in India (Swadeshi), the country can become self-sufficient. in five years . “
