The Delhi government received 10,000 emails, 4 lakh WhatsApp messages and 27,000 recorded messages in one day, with suggestions on relaxations they can afford in the national capital after May 17.

A spokesman for Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office said the government will accept suggestions until 5pm.

Kejriwal had announced Wednesday that the government, in its proposal to the Center, on May 17 after the lockdown relaxations, will also incorporate suggestions from individuals and medical experts.

A dedicated team is known to have been reviewing the suggestions, especially WhatsApp emails and messages, since Tuesday.

The government issued a WhatsApp number: 8800007722, the helpline number -1031 and an email id: [email protected] to receive the suggestions.

The Delhi government has been asking the Center to re-evaluate the categorization of red zones in the city, taking into account population density and the need to reopen businesses and other commercial activities.

Kejriwal raised the issue in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s video conference with several chief ministers on Monday. AAP leaders have also been pushing for greater decentralization to enforce and lift measures to stem the spread of the crown.
A senior Union government official told The Indian Express on Tuesday that the Center plans to engage states and consider their suggestions in drawing up the list of red, green and orange zones. Currently, all 11 Delhi districts are classified as red.
