Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will report to the media on Wednesday at 4 pm. In his speech, Sitharaman will share the details of the Rs 20 lakh crore economic stimulus package that Prime Minister Modi announced on Tuesday to fight Covid-19.
In a series of tweets, the finance minister said Tuesday “this will not be just a financial package, but a stimulus for reform, a mindset overhaul and a boost in governance.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Tuesday and announced that the Rs 20 lakh crore stimulus package will infuse vitality into the economy and benefit all sectors of society, from migrant workers to big business. He said the details of the package will be released by the finance minister in the coming days.

The Prime Minister described it as “a special economic package that will serve as an important link for the‘ Self-Sufficient India Campaign (Aatma nirbhar Bharat) ’”. The aid package represents about 10% of India’s gross domestic product (GDP), he said.
“This package will give a new impetus to the country’s development journey in 2020 and a new direction to the self-sufficient India campaign. In order to demonstrate the resolve of a self-sufficient India, Land, Labor, Liquidity and Laws have been emphasized in this package, “the prime minister said Tuesday.
He stated that the package is for the “craft industry, the domestic industry, our small-scale industry, our country MSM, which is a source of livelihood for millions of people, which is the solid foundation of our determination for a self-sufficient India” .
