NEW DELHI: The number of new Covid-19 infections across the country fell to a three-day low on Tuesday, even as India’s total case count was about to exceed 75,000. However, the death toll from the virus increased by 121, the second highest in a single day so far.

Vande Bharat 2.0: 1.5L Indians register to return via 149 flights
The government is set to launch Phase II of the Vande Bharat Mission on May 16 which, according to officials here, will see India operating 149 flights, including 30 feeder fights, over a seven-day period to bring back citizens Indians from 31 countries.
Official sources also said that more than 80,000 Indians around the world have registered and completed all formalities for repatriation in the past five days, bringing the total number to 1.5 lakh.

Nearly 8,000 passengers boarded the first eight special trains that started their journey from six different stations on Tuesday. Nine other special trains will start from home stations on Wednesday.
The doubling time of coronavirus cases slows to 12.2 days from 10.9
Although the number of Covid-19 cases continues to increase, the doubling time has decreased to 12.2 days in the last three days from 10.9 days in the last 14 days.
In the last 24 hours, 3,604 new cases were added, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 70,756. Of these, 22,455 people have been cured and 2,293 have died. Vardhan said the death rate was 3.2%, while the recovery rate progressively increased to 31.74%.
