On Tuesday, Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal solicited suggestions from residents of the national capital on relaxing the rules after May 17, when the nationwide confinement is slated to end to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Party leader Aam Aadmi referred to Monday’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he has asked what states want to do. Prime Minister Modi, he said, has asked states to send them before May 15 and the Center will make a decision on what to do after May 17 based on those ideas.

“I want to seek suggestions from the citizens of Delhi on what you think should be done after May 17. Should there be laxity in the restrictions? If so, to what extent should standards be easy and in what sectors should they be subject to this?
“Should buses, subways, rickshaws and taxis be allowed to come back up? Should schools and markets be reopened? Should industrial areas be restarted? What should open and what should not?

Kejriwal said that it goes beyond saying that the rules of social distancing will be strictly enforced and that everyone will be required to wear a mask.
“We have to protect ourselves from the crown and also safeguard the health of the economy,” he said.

“It is if you could send your suggestions before 5pm tomorrow. I am looking for your suggestions and I am also talking to experts. This is not a vote, but we need ideas on what you think about laxities, “he said.
“We will make a proposal on behalf of the people of Delhi the day after tomorrow and send them to the Center,” he added.
Then the Center will decide what steps to take after May 17, he said.
Delhi has reported 13 deaths and 406 new cases of Covid-19 in the 24 hours to midnight on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 7,639 and deaths to 86. There are 383 people who have recovered bringing the number to 2512.
