Covid figure mismatch: Delhi government admits incorrect “late” reports

Chief Secretary Vijay Dev wrote: “It has been noted that both public and private hospitals (both Covid and non-Covid) do not report deaths from Covid-19 positive cases in their hospitals. in a timely and regular manner. “

The order said hospitals did not share death summaries with the three-member death audit committee formed by the Delhi government on April 20. “Death summaries of deceased patients are not released to the committee, resulting in incorrect / delayed reporting.” The order said.

The order, sent to medical directors / medical superintendents, said: “The reporting of cases of Covid-19 positive deaths from all health centers in Delhi will be carried out strictly in accordance with the POE.”

Lok Nayak Hospital, a dedicated Covid facility, has reported 47 deaths from coronavirus patients.

Under the SOP, each hospital must report all deaths from coronavirus patients by email to district and state surveillance units, along with a scanned copy of the case summary, medical files, and all relevant data required by the death audit committee, before 5 pm every day.

A day after the report from The Indian Express, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had told reporters: “Some summaries of deaths have not been provided to the Delhi government due to various problems and therefore not can be added to the death list. As they arrive, we will release them. ”

The order, sent to medical directors / medical superintendents, said: “The reporting of cases of Covid-19 positive deaths from all health centers in Delhi will be carried out strictly in accordance with the POE.”

As reported by The Indian Express, the number of coronavirus victims reported by Lok Nayak Hospital, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Lady Hardinge Medical College and AIIMS centers in Delhi and Jhajjar remained at 116 until Thursday by night. According to the Delhi government daily bulletin, a total of 33 deaths had been recorded in these hospitals.
