Panchkula, May 10

Two more Covid cases were reported today in Panchkula. One of them is a 33-year-old Sector 19 resident who works at a pharmaceutical company in Baddi in Himachal Pradesh.

He had reported to the Civil Hospital a few days ago after developing symptoms such as shortness of breath, fever, and cough. He had been advised to insulate himself at home after doctors took his sample for Covid. His eight relatives have been transferred to an isolation room at the Civil Hospital for the Covid test.

Dr. Jasjeet Kaur, Civil Surgeon, said: “You may have contracted the infection in Baddi while you were staying there in a rest house. We have informed Baddi officials to trace your contacts to stop the infection.”

The second person to test positive is a 45-year-old trucker from the town of Majri. His sample was taken during a random test of 10 truckers from the Majri Chowk Truck Union on May 6. Its exact source of infection is not yet known.

“His five relatives were also transferred to Civil Hospital for analysis,” said Dr. Kaur.

The containment process begins

“More contacts from both infected people are being tracked. We have also begun the process of containing the residential neighborhoods where they remain to stop the spread of Covid-19, ”said the Civil Surgeon.

Panchkula count 22

With the two new cases, the district’s Covid count is now 22, while the number of active cases is four.
