Given that it keeps an eye on the number of patients with COVID-19 and another on the series of government guidelines on blocking, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is contemplating a series of steps to ensure that the remaining class 10 exams and 12, which over thousands of students have to take, go smoothly with the firmly established norms of social distancing.
Students and teachers will wear masks, there will be no more than 12 candidates in a room who will be allowed to bring their disinfectants, while schools and parents must take precautions to ensure there are no interruptions when students travel.
Human Resources Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has stated that exams for 12 class 12 subjects will take place from July 1 to 15. In Northeast Delhi, a few more exams, including class 10 exams, which failed due to community violence, will take place.
“It is a challenging task to conduct an examination of such vast proportions when the country is still facing the pandemic, but we believe that it is feasible because the previous examinations in March were also carried out at a time when the attack of the disease was felt. and consequently the modifications made. We believe that by learning from that experience, we will be able to establish a detailed security mechanism, “said one official, who declined to be quoted.
According to another official, although the figure of 12 lakh may seem enormous, the maximum number of candidates that can appear in a single day will be less than 4 lakhs. CBSE has conducted exams in which up to 19.5 lakh students took the exam in a single day in March.
“Even in that test we try to make sure that there are no more than 12 students in a room. Therefore, it will not be difficult to ensure that there are no more than 12 students in a room to deal with the aspect of social distancing, “said the second official.
The maximum number of students is known to appear for the Business Science Subject Test for Class 12. More than 3.5 lakh students are expected to take this test. Among other subjects, the Hindi exam will see around 3 lakh of candidates taking the exam, Geography has more than one lakh and Home Sciences has around 60,000 and Sociology has around 50,000 candidates.
“There is still time and, accordingly, we will plan and bring appropriate standards. However, there will be adequate social distancing and precautions when conducting the exams, “said the second official.
According to officials, it is advisable that parents and schools also ensure that a large number of vehicles are used so that students are not packed in a space when they come to test centers.
