Officials from 10 hospitals treating patients with COVID-19 in Delhi said the number of people who have died from the virus is higher than the Delhi government bulletin reflects.

New Delhi: Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday that 75 percent of COVID-19 cases in the city are asymptomatic or show mild symptoms, stating that the number of severe patients and deaths caused by the infection is ” less”.
“The number of seriously ill patients is less. The number of COVID-19-19 deaths is much less,” he said, a day after his government was attacked for “reporting less” the deaths.
On Saturday, Congress leader Ajay Maken sought more transparency from the Kejriwal government and Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari urged the prime minister to “tell the truth,” saying that people have a right to know about the severity of the outbreak.

Confusion has prevailed over the exact number of deaths as data from four hospitals showed that 92 people succumbed to the infection against 68 reported by the government as of Friday.
However, Kejriwal said Sunday that 73 people have died from the virus.
He said that Delhi has reported 6,923 coronavirus cases, of which 2,069 have recovered, while 91 patients are in the ICU and 27 are on ventilation support.
82 percent of the deceased have been found to be over the age of 50, Kejriwal said, asking older people to take preventive measures against the infection.
“Of 6,923 patients with COVID-19, only 1,476 are admitted to hospitals,” he said, adding that the rest are receiving treatment in their homes and COVID-19 care facilities.
In an online briefing, Kejriwal said that people who are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms should be admitted to hospitals and receive treatment at home.
“Our team conducts an inspection of their home to determine whether social isolation can be observed or not. Our teams are in regular contact with those people and, if necessary, the family members of the affected person can contact officials,” he said. .
If there is not enough space in the home to guarantee social isolation, the government sends the patient to a COVID-19 care center where he can stay for 14 days, he said.
He said the government has attached the Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital with two or three five-star hotels where front-line warriors infected with COVID-19 are treated.
“It hurt when I heard that the Opposition was criticizing our movement. I want to ask you if the warriors in the crown should not have a better facility,” he said.
This is not the time to make politics but to work together against the virus, said the AAP chief.
He said his government is requiring ambulances from private hospitals to fill the shortage. “It does not mean that these private ambulances cannot provide services to their attached hospitals. They will have to be pressured to the government services when we require it. I hope that with this movement, there will be no shortage,” he said.
Kejriwal also called on migrant workers not to leave Delhi.
“If someone wants to leave, the government will make the necessary arrangements, but don’t leave alone. We have recently sent two trains to Madhya Pradesh and Bihar,” he said.
