NEW DELHI: Parliament session on monsoons, which normally starts in the last week of June or the first week of July, can still be held on time, Lok Sabha spokesperson Om Birla he said Sunday, amid concerns that the coronavirus The pandemic can delay its onset.
Last year, the monsoon session ran from June 20 to August 7.
The speaker stressed that it was a time of trial due to the Covid-19 crisis, but expressed the hope that the session could be held according to normal hours.
“Despite the Covid-19 crisis, I am hopeful that the session can be held on time. But it will also depend on the situation that prevails at that time, “Birla told PTI.
When asked if it will be possible to hold the session if there are still strict social distancing rules in force in June-July, Birla said a way could be found when such a situation arises.
Birla, at the initiative of who established a control room in Lok Sabha and state assemblies for better coordination between states to help people, said that this experiment turned out to be very successful as elected representatives from different states contacted with each other and helped people in their respective groups who are trapped elsewhere.

To congratulate the country’s central leadership for “effectively managing” the crisis, Birla said: “During this time of trial, our country’s leadership received the support of the people and also responded by proactively responding to the situation and working to their expectations.”
Along with national leadership, the chief ministers of various states have also handled the situation very diligently, he said.
Experts opined that the session could be delayed until the last week of September, since the Constitution allows a maximum interval of six months between two consecutive sessions.
In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Budget session had to end prematurely on March 23, more than 10 days before its last scheduled session on April 3.
