Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday that almost 75% of patients with coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the Capital are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms.
As he said that Delhi has to “learn to live with Covid-19”, the prime minister noted that they were asked to remain in their homes following the Center’s revised guidelines on the discharge of such patients.
“So far there are 6,923 cases of coronavirus in Delhi and 2,069 patients have recovered and 73 have died,” Kejriwal said during a video conference.
“Of the 6,923 patients with Covid-19, only 1,476 are admitted to hospitals. The rest or around 75% are receiving treatment in their Covid-19 homes and centers. Our teams visit their homes to make sure they follow all the protocols every day, “he said.
He said that if those patients don’t have separate rooms or bathrooms in their homes, the government makes sure they can enter Covid-19 care centers.
The prime minister said the government also issued an order for the request for ambulances belonging to private hospitals, adding that the decision was made in the wake of a shortage of state ambulances.
“They (private ambulances) will have to be pressured into service when the government requires their service,” Kejriwal said.
After Maharashtra and Gujarat, the national capital has registered the third highest number of Covid-19 cases in the country.
