A core team led by the Deputy Director General of the Union Ministry of Health, Sudhir Gupta, has advised health authorities in Pune to take steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19 out of the red zones and to follow the strategy of containment to control the pandemic in Pune. .
“The team conducted a review of the situation in the city and division of Pune. Team members advised concentrating efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19 from the red zone to other areas of the city. Emphasis was placed on the house-to-house survey, follow-up of contacts and, if necessary, quarantine of suspected cases, ”said Pune Division Commissioner Deepak Mhaisekar.
The team met with officials from the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporations on Friday and Saturday to discuss the city’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the prominent red light districts in Maharashtra, Pune district, has seen more than 130 deaths and 2,400 positive cases as of May 8.
The Gupta-led team visited Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited on Saturday. Meetings were scheduled with senior civic officials, Pune Zilla Parishad officials and hospitals dedicated to treating patients with Covid-19 in Pune. On Friday night, Gupta met with Pune Division Commissioner Deepak Mhaisekar to discuss the situation.
