New Delhi: Pakistan said on Friday it “rejects” the Indian movement to transmit weather reports from Pakistan, Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Gilgit Baltistan.

A statement by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said that “like the so-called” political maps “issued last year by India, this measure is also legally void, contrary to reality and in violation of the relevant Security Council Resolutions. of the United Nations (UNSC) “.

The statement comes after it was reported that starting today, Doordarshan News and All India Radio will broadcast temperatures and weather reports from the Indian towns and cities of Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Gilgit, in their prime-time news bulletins. .

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry called it “another mischievous Indian move.”

Last year, India released new maps showing PoK as part of the newly formed Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, while Gilgit-Baltistan is in Ladakh after the bifurcation.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) also began referring to the Jammu and Kashmir weather subdivision as Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad.

While Gilgit-Baltistan is under the illegal control of Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir Muzaffarabad is in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The move has come close to the decision of the Pakistani Supreme Court to allow its government to hold elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.

India had filed a protest with Pakistan, asking Islamabad to immediately vacate all areas under its illegal occupation.
