VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh Police Director General Gowtham Sawang, along with Special Chief Secretary Karikal Valaven, visited the LG Polymers India Private Limited at RR Venkatapuram in Vizag on Saturday.
It should be remembered that the styrene gas leak from LG Polymers has claimed 12 lives and more than 400 were hospitalized on Thursday.

Long before DGP Gowtham Sawang’s visit to LG Polymers, a group of locals staged protests inside the LG Polymers plant facility demanding the plant be closed claiming that the plant was located in the residential area and that it would pose a threat for life in the next few days.
Although the police tried to appease the locals, the hectic locals entered into heated discussions with the police, and the locals also tried to attack some local leaders of the YSR Congress party.
K Prasad, a resident of RR Venkatapuram, said that so far the AP police have not taken any action against LG Polymers representatives.
