The number of coronavirus victims reported by Lok Nayak Hospital, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Lady Hardinge Medical College and AIIMS centers in Delhi and Jhajjar is 116, according to data from these hospitals and confirmed by their officials to The Indian Express.
This is higher than the Delhi government’s official Covid-19 death toll, which stood at 66 as of Thursday night. According to the Delhi government daily bulletin, a total of 33 deaths have been recorded in these specific hospitals.
When contacted, a Delhi government spokesman said: “There is a medical audit committee that investigates every incident of death reported by Covid hospitals and ensures that every death is reported.” There is no interference of any kind in the work of this committee … Each event is presented to the public in a correct and transparent manner. “
While RML Hospital has recorded 52 deaths from patients who tested positive for Covid, the Delhi government health bulletin as of Thursday night recorded 26 deaths from here.
When asked about the discrepancy, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr. Minakshi Bharadwaj, said: “We are regularly giving our data to the Delhi government. We do not know why incorrect data is reflected. Even the total number of positive Covid-19 cases is incorrect. We have informed them many times, but the number has not yet been corrected. “
At the AIIMS Delhi and Jhajjar campuses, the latter also has patients from the Capital, 14 people have died, said Dr. D K Sharma, AIIMS Medical Superintendent. The Delhi government health bulletin puts the AIIMS figure in two.
When asked if the data had been shared with the Delhi government, he said: “We are giving them the full data, but I think they could be taking only data from Delhi. They could be saying that Jhajjar’s data is different, while Jhajjar is our campus. It may be located in Haryana, but the patients have been transferred from Delhi. “
Lok Nayak Hospital, a dedicated Covid facility, has reported 47 deaths from coronavirus patients. The Delhi government bulletin says that so far five Covid-positive patients have died in the hospital.

Dr. J C Passey, Hospital Medical Director, told The Indian Express: “The total number of deaths reported at my hospital due to Covid positive patients is 47.”
Lady Hardinge, who, according to the health department, has not reported a single death so far, confirmed that three deaths from coronavirus patients have been reported in the past month, according to Medical Director Dr. N N Mathur.
With 5,980 cases and 66 deaths, according to the Delhi government bulletin as of Thursday night, the death rate in the national capital stood at 1.1%. On Friday, the Capital reported two more coronavirus deaths.
The Indian Express sent messages to the Delhi Minister of Health, Satyendar Jain, to the Secretary of Health, Padmini Singhla, and to the Director General of Health Services, Dr. Nutan Mundeja, asking about the discrepancies. His response was expected.
Earlier in the day, when asked about the Opposition’s claims that Delhi underestimated Covid’s figures, Jain told reporters: “There is no question of hiding any data from the Delhi government because if someone tests positive , should not be hidden. ” Once the reports arrive, hospitals have to report to the government. On Thursday, 448 new cases of Covid-19 were reported from Delhi, which was the all-time high. If we wanted to hide the numbers, we would have said 48 cases and not 448. If we wanted to hide, we could have said zero positive cases in one day. “
When contacted, a Delhi government spokesman said: “It is regrettable that politically motivated false allegations are made when the entire government is fighting the crown.” Each event is presented to the public in a correct and transparent manner. For example, in recent days the number of cases in Delhi has increased. We report the same correctly. If we had to falsify the figures, we could also have falsified those figures. We have increased the number of tests in Delhi, which has led to an increase in reported cases. Therefore, our intentions are honest. “
On April 20, the Delhi government had formed a three-member committee to audit all Covid-19 deaths in the city. “The committee’s responsibility would be to audit each and every death where the Covid-19 test is positive daily in government and private hospitals before releasing data. All public and private hospitals are required to report all such deaths to the committee along with the copy of the case sheet for the death audit, “said an order from the health department.
So far, the committee has conducted an audit of 38 deaths in the city, said one of the committee members, adding: “The committee’s role is to discover the leading cause of death in people who have also been declared positive for Covid.” . The case sheets are provided by the health department and based on that we verify the reason for the deaths. We only receive those cases that are Covid positive. There may be some cases where the primary cause of death is not Covid-19. They may be Covid positive, but the main cause may be due to a comorbid condition. “
