The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday accused congressional leader leader Rahul Gandhi of being out of touch with reality and out of sync with the state governments in front of Congress amid the huge health crisis caused by Covid-19 disease.

“We don’t know what world Rahul Gandhi is living in. The fight against the coronavirus pandemic best exemplifies the spirit of Team India fostered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” The opinions and experiences of state governments have contributed greatly to the development and revision of central government guidelines, “BJP spokesman GVL Narsimha Rao said in response to the congressional leader’s assertion that India would lose the battle against Covid-19 if the fight was limited to the Prime Minister’s office.

In a sharp critique of the Congressional leader’s comments where he said the Prime Minister needed to delegate power and that there would be a calamity if the union government led by the BJP tried to centralize the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, the BJP said Gandhi was out of sync even with those states where Congress was in power.

“Rahul Gandhi is out of touch with reality and out of sync with state governments governed by his own party,” said the BJP spokesman.

Earlier on Friday, Rahul Gandhi had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove fear among people about coronavirus disease and also to try to decentralize by making states partners in decision-making.

The former President of Congress held an hour-long briefing via video conference, the second in about a month.

The congressional leader addressed the media on April 16, when he emphasized that the blockade was not a solution to defeat Covid-19, but only a pause button to slow the spread of the infection.

It had also demanded an adequate exit strategy from the national closure that the Prime Minister had said needed to inform the people of the country.
